1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how the Curse mobile application handles information when you use its pet profile, video moment, community, safety, coin, and Boost features. By using Curse, you acknowledge the practices described below.
2. Information handled by the app
| Category | Examples | How it is used |
|---|---|---|
| Profile information | Display name, profile photo, and bio | To display and edit your local Curse profile. |
| Pet information | Pet name, photo, type, breed, age, gender, and profile tags | To create pet profiles and tag pets in moments. |
| Moment content | Videos, generated cover images, titles, descriptions, hashtags, and creation dates | To create and display your moments in the app. |
| Community activity | Likes, bookmarks, comments, follows, blocks, and reports | To provide your feed, library, comments, following list, and safety preferences. |
| App state and preferences | Login state, agreement choice, onboarding status, and local settings | To remember your choices on the device. |
| Coin and Boost records | Local coin balance, selected Boost plan, and local Boost history | To provide the optional coin store and simulated Boost experience. |
| Support communications | Your email address and the information you include when you contact support | To receive, investigate, and respond to your request. |
3. Where information is stored
The current version stores the information described above locally on your device using app storage. User-selected photos, uploaded videos, and generated covers are stored in the app's local files. Profile data, pet data, comments, reactions, follows, blocks, preferences, coin balance, and Boost records are stored in local app preferences.
Curse does not currently operate an account server or community-content server, so this locally created content is not synced across devices and is not uploaded to a Curse-operated backend.
4. Camera, microphone, and photo library
Curse requests access only after you choose a feature that needs it:
- Camera: to take a profile photo or record a pet moment.
- Microphone: to include sound when you record a pet moment.
- Photo library: to select a profile photo, pet photo, or video moment.
You can deny or later change these permissions in iOS Settings. Core browsing features remain available without granting optional media permissions, although features that require the denied permission will not work.
5. Apple In-App Purchase
If you choose to buy virtual coins, Apple processes the purchase through StoreKit and the App Store. Curse receives the product and transaction result needed to credit the purchased coins. Curse does not receive or store your full payment card or bank account information. Apple's handling of purchase information is governed by Apple's own terms and privacy policy.
6. Content filtering and safety tools
Text entered in comments, moment titles, moment descriptions, and profile bios is checked on the device against Curse's content filter before it is saved. Report and block choices are recorded locally to manage what appears in your experience. Because the current version does not transmit reports to a Curse-operated server, do not use the in-app report tool for emergencies. If someone or an animal may be in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local authority.
7. Sharing and disclosure
Curse does not sell your personal information. The current version does not share locally created profile, pet, moment, or activity data with advertising networks, analytics providers, data brokers, or Curse-operated servers.
Information may leave your device when you independently use an operating-system service, such as Apple In-App Purchase or your email app to contact support. Those services process information under their own privacy terms. If you email support, we receive your email address and message and use them only to handle the request, protect the app and its users, and meet legal obligations.
8. Retention and deletion
Local data remains on your device until you delete it, delete your account in Curse, uninstall the app, or iOS removes the app's data. You can delete individual pet profiles and your uploaded moments from within the app. The Delete Account option removes the locally stored account snapshot, pets, moments, comments, media, and app preferences managed by Curse on that device.
Deleting local app data does not cancel or reverse a completed App Store purchase. Purchase records retained by Apple are controlled by Apple.
Support emails are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain a record of the request, protect the service, and comply with applicable legal obligations. You may ask us to delete a support conversation, subject to records we are legally required to retain.
9. Security
Curse uses the protections provided by iOS app sandboxing and stores app-created data within the application's local container. No storage method is guaranteed to be completely secure. Protect your device with a passcode and keep iOS up to date.
10. Children's privacy
Curse is not directed to children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect children's personal information on Curse-operated servers. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided information in connection with Curse may contact us for assistance with the app's local deletion controls.
11. International use
Because app-created content is stored locally in the current version, Curse does not transfer that content to Curse-operated servers in another country. Apple may process App Store purchase information according to Apple's own global services and policies.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app's features or data practices change. The revised policy will show a new effective date. Material changes will be presented through the app or an updated public policy before they take effect where required.
